Over the years, I have spent many days, weeks & months travelling through the stunning Julian Alps of Slovenia. I have been lucky to witness and photograph some magical landscapes not only creating beautiful images but also wonderful memories.
Obviously it would be terribly selfish for me to keep all this beauty to myself!
So one day on a family holiday, sitting on the edge of Lake Bled (with my feet dipped in the crystal clear water) I decided, that this beautiful country was to be the staging ground for my very best photography workshop!
The workshop is based from Lake Bled, the “Jewel in the Crown” of the Julian Alps. Here we shall explore the Triglav National Park with our own private mini-bus ensuring that not only do you visit some stunning vistas, but that you also enjoy the ride along the way. You can expect to see some of Europes most beautiful lakes, alpine mountains, stunning turquoise rivers, waterfalls, hilltop churches, medieval castles and much more. October is a great time to visit Slovenia, the tree filled landscapes will be transitioning from green to amber to deep reds, making for some stunning scenery, add some low lying mist and you have all the ingredients for epic landscapes.
Like any alpine location, the weather is always changing but the light should be good and, fingers crossed, even when it’s not, it lends to some moody atmospheric landscapes. Unless there is a threat of severe storms, we should be good to shoot in most locations adapting to what the weather will throws at us. Temperatures in the area average around 18º to 8º during Oct which is a comfortable range to be out in the wild but appropriate warm weather clothing will be essential, more on that later!

As mentioned above, the weather will be our “master” so a level of flexibility will be required to make sure we maximise the best of the week.

Photography days consist of:
Daily sunrise/morning session on location
Breakfast either on location or back at basecamp
Day session on location
Individual time to explore
A daily dusk/sunset session on location
Evening social, dinner etc.
Although the last day is scheduled for image reviewing and editing etc the weather may dictate when that happens, again flexibility is key.

Photography Experience & Equipment
The Slovenian Alps are beautiful but it can get cold and wet out there in October. If you are interested, you should be prepared for walking and ensure you are equipped to tackle the environment. You should therefore have a good level of fitness and come with clothes and footwear suitable for the environment.
No matter if you are an absolute beginner, enthusiast or professional, this workshop caters for all skill levels. As for photographic equipment, you can bring as much as you can carry but a minimum of a tripod & Lens(es) suitable for Landscape photography is important. In addition, filters and other items are welcome. If you are unsure about your equipment please contact me for advice.

In order to reserve your placement, a non refundable deposit of £500 must be paid. If I have to cancel due to illness then a full refund will be provided.
